Jason Squiers The simplicity and directness of this recording imbue it with a quiet strength that shines like the light of truth. It glows with tragic insight, roars with tormented passion, and sears with serene intensity. Also the songs are good. Favorite track: One to One (Acoustic).
Darkside
Darkside thumbnail
Darkside This album is raw, elegant, and authentic. Each of the (fan favorite) tracks has been masterfully re-arranged for piano, allowing the incomparable sincerity of the vocals to shine through.

Each song takes on an entirely new life - some becoming hauntingly ethereal, while others become even more powerful than before.

This is exactly what an acoustic album should be. Favorite track: Ugly Side (Acoustic).

Two twin girls run through the halls The walls are closing in Act natural, act natural No crawling of the skin The screams are in the distance But their hearts are pounding loud Up the stairs, down the stairs You're not in Kansas now How to solve your problems using alcohol (Run run run run run run run run) How to solve your problems using alcohol (Run run run run run run run run) How to solve your problems using alcohol (Run run run run run run run run) How to solve your problems using alcohol, alcohol (Run run run run run run run run) Out into the courtyard In the moonlight they are exposed Don't forget to step lightly Stay calm and composed Find the secret ballroom Safe, silent and empty Under the chandelier Whisper how things should be How to solve your problems using alcohol (Run run run run run run run run) How to solve your problems using alcohol (Run run run run run run run run) How to solve your problems using alcohol (Run run run run run run run run) How to solve your problems using alcohol, alcohol (Run run run run run run run run) Keep walking, keep walking Little twins, no talking Start running, start running Who do you think is coming? Keep walking, keep walking Little twins, no talking Start running, start running Who do you think is coming? Who do you think is coming?

He looks in the mirror, nothing is clear Where's he taking it from here? Goes his mind. Dead or alive inside fluorescent lights Open his hand, hand on the desk Desk in the corner, three stories at best The locks are turning, doors in the hall There's no way out Oh, oh, going nowhere anywhere (Nowhere anywhere) Oh, oh, going nowhere anywhere (Nowhere anywhere) I have a hard time wanting to help, I think of myself Leave the glass upon the shelf Don't open the door no matter who for But should I see his face before he goes? I'll never know Just what what what was wrong Not listening, not sinking in, we're two brick walls Oh, oh, going nowhere anywhere (Nowhere anywhere) Oh, oh, going nowhere anywhere (Nowhere anywhere) Oh, what do you want? (Nowhere anywhere) I've got a funny feeling you don't even know Don't know, don't know, you don't know No, you don't know, don't know But now you say you're feeling fine Oh, oh, going nowhere anywhere (Nowhere anywhere) Oh, oh, going nowhere anywhere (Nowhere anywhere) Oh, nowhere anywhere (Nowhere anywhere) Oh, nowhere anywhere

You breeze right past it at every turn Pulled back elastic, you never learn But it's right there in your face You wonder why all the bridges burn The blame decided, but is it earned? Or did you just lose your way? When you take the time Take a moment to find their eyes It goes way, way down A connection you recognize It may be mischief, it may be pain The purest love or the deepest hate The answer clear as the sun We know it's true what they always say Then we ignore it and look away Into a future that's dark When you take the time Take a moment to find their eyes It goes way, way down A connection you recognize When you take the time Take a moment to find their eyes It goes way, way down A connection you recognize When you take the time Take a moment to find their eyes It goes way, way down A connection you recognize

Get ready to tear it apart Get ready to jump ahead and read the end before you start You hope these words are the key To your own personal mystery Don't get your hopes up Don't, don't, hopes up Get your don't hope get your hopes up It'll hurt worse on the way down Don't get your hopes up Don't, don't, hopes up Get your don't hope get your hopes up It'll hurt worse on the way down down, down down down You want me to bare my soul You want my skin peeled off, exposing all my insides to the cold I'll keep my gold armor on Sword shining by my side, yeah, all along Don't get your hopes up Don't, don't, hopes up Get your don't hope get your hopes up It'll hurt worse on the way down Don't get your hopes up Don't, don't, hopes up Get your don't hope get your hopes up It'll hurt worse on the way down down, down down down Everybody said that it was time for me to move ahead Keep the armor on, it isn't wrong, protect myself instead Oh oh, and they were right Now I sleep through the night Now, now now now now now I sleep through the, sleep through the night Don't get your hopes up Don't, don't, hopes up Get your don't hope get your hopes up It'll hurt worse on the way down Don't get your hopes up Don't, don't, hopes up Get your don't hope get your hopes up It'll hurt worse on the way down down, down down down

They are ordinary, nondescript walls Plain people, calm and quiet Ordinary till the tide turns Voices get sharp, start to rise Eyes frenzied, don't know what to do Or who they should look up to They're divided by an invisible line It's time to pick a side now And we all tear the walls down Oh, what did you expect? Yeah, we're human, no regrets, oh oh And we all tear the walls down Oh, what did you expect? Yeah, we're human, no regrets Sharp objects hidden in their clothes Planning out an overthrow Figure which way the mob will go Paranoia is highly contagious so Please cover your mouth and nose Fearful leader knows it's just a matter of time Before he's out to dry And we all tear the walls down Oh, what did you expect? Yeah, we're human, no regrets, oh oh And we all tear the walls down Oh, what did you expect? Yeah, we're human, no regrets We've got no direction, we've got no respect Each interjection as loud as the next How can we know which way to go Or are we all alone? And we all tear the walls down Oh, what did you expect? Yeah, we're human, no regrets, oh oh And we all tear the walls down Oh, what did you expect? Yeah, we're human, no regrets

Why should I put in my time? Cross my Ts, dot my Is Paying dues is the stuff of fairy tales See the world through apathetic eyes Love is useless when I die Why does it matter if I fail? A cigarette burns in my chest Breathe so deep, no need to keep my lungs intact Right on track You tied your heart to a string You did all these silly things and yet The sun will rise again It happens oh oh over and oh oh over 'cause it's not the end Yeah the sun will rise again And you're standing on the edge of the rocks January shock Too stunned to talk Are you terrified now? Gotta make it work somehow You blew it all in the last seven years Thought you were safe, you knew your fate Took it all, put it down on seventeen You tied your heart to a string Told yourself these silly things and yet The sun will rise again It happens oh oh over and oh oh over 'cause it's not the end Yeah the sun will rise again And you're standing on the edge of the rocks So whatcha gonna do? You called it quits too soon, oh Instead of burning out You're gonna fade away, not sorry now And yes the sun will rise again It happens oh oh over and oh oh over 'cause it's not the end Yeah the sun will rise again And you're standing on the edge of the rocks January shock January shock January shock January shock

One moment of peace while you are not here Breathe free again until you reappear Smothering all, all of us drown Garbage in tow, oh oh oh You're a virus in my head You're a virus and you spread All over everything I can't shake shake shake, I can't shake You might not see it's my ugly side I may wear a smile, but you can hear that I Speak with an edge, words getting sharp Poison that spreads, oh oh oh Where is my shield? Where is my forcefield When I need it most? When I need it most? You're a virus in my head You're a virus and you spread All over everything All over everything You're a virus in my head You're a virus and you spread All over everything I can't shake shake shake, I can't shake You are always there, everywhere I wanna be Your shadow all that I see Closing my eyes makes me kinda nervous You're nearby, oh I can feel it I will not succumb to whatever it is you're trying to make of me You're a virus in my head You're a virus and you spread All over everything I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't You're a virus in my head You're a virus and you spread All over everything I can't shake shake shake, I can't shake

You, you take it all away from me You, you, you take it all away One, two, three, there it goes, filling in the potholes Smooth out the road so I know how to find my way back home And you, you take it all away from me Say whatever you want to say It's always one to one in this game Say whatever you want to say It's always one to one in this game You, you put it all, all on me You, you, you, you, you pile it all on top of me And suddenly I can't breathe, turn on the lights but I can't see What do you want from me? What do you want from me now? And you, you pile it all on top of me Say whatever you want to say It's always one to one in this game Say whatever you want to say It's always one to one in this game Say whatever you want to say It's always one to one in this game

about

Recorded in San Francisco in the Regency Ballroom's Lodge, these eight songs are raw, acoustic representations of Survival Guide's usual electronic indie rock tracks. The recording process was done in a live performance style, even though there was no audience. The natural reverberations from the room combined with the lack of heavy editing create an atmosphere in which it's easy to imagine you're the sole attendee.

All eight tracks were filmed during recording and can be viewed on Survival Guide's YouTube channel: youtube.com/survivalguidemusic
